About the Area
The Astoria Ditmars section of Astoria is a micro neighborhood which feels very much like a tight knit community. Walking down 31st St or Ditmars Blvd you may feel like you’re in Manhattan, but local spots and small businesses still reign supreme in this neighborhood. Transportation in the neighborhood include a few bus lines as well as the N & W lines which begin and end at Astoria-Ditmars station located on 31st St and Ditmars Blvd. Head west to Astoria Park for beautiful views of the East River, Triborough Bridge, and the Hells Gate Bridge. Astoria Park is one of Queens’ most premier parks with a seasonal olympic sized pool, several playgrounds, basketball courts, a skate park, tennis courts, a full size track, outdoor fitness stations, walking trails, and much more! Walk east on Ditmars Blvd and once you pass Steinway St you will enter another micro neighborhood called Upper Ditmars. This area is located between Steinway and 49th St and as you walk around you will notice how peacful and quiet this area is. Houses are nicely manicured, architecture is gorgeous, and there are no big buildings so you really feel like you’re in a small town. A great neighborhood with so much charm, take a stroll when you have a chance!
