Living in Woodhaven Queens

Woodhaven is a Queens neighborhood which is situated on Brooklyn’s eastern border, just south of Forest Park, west of Richmond Hill, and north of Ozone Park.

If you’re searching for a property in the most urban of areas, but are not quite ready to settle down into the completely suburban ones, then you might want to consider the available housing stock in Woodhaven.

Just south of Forest Park, at the northern end of Woodhaven, is one of Queens’ most charming and leafy communities. This section has several two and three story single-family homes on modest plots of land. But the notorious New York rowhouse makes an appearance in this area, as well as other sections of Woodhaven. Roundhouses, in particular, are spread amongst the tree-lined blocks, while semi-detached rowhouses and low-rise apartment buildings also share the neighborhood.

Woodhaven’s commercial makes up several blocks of Jamaica Avenue to the east and west of Woodhaven Boulevard. This avenue is home to several local shops, from nail salons to diners to bars to barber shops. There is such a wide selection of stores along Jamaica Avenue that residents of Woodhaven apartments won’t need to leave their beautiful Queens neighborhood to complete their errands.

Residents of Woodhaven have access to the subway via the J & Z trains. Three stations mark the region, at 75th Street Station, 85th Street – Forest Parkway Station, and Woodhaven Boulevard Station. Take these trains towards Manhattan, or catch the QM15 express bus at the Jamaica Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard intersection. This bus will take you to Midtown Manhattan in as little as 30 minutes, and arrives as frequently as every six minutes during weekday rush hour.

Just steps from Forest Park, families living in Woodhaven can enjoy one of the city’s largest greenspaces. Featuring a golf course, tennis courts, and athletic fields, there is no lack of recreational space for residents of surrounding neighborhoods.
